Conference April 28-29, 2023

“Health Communication for a Changing World”

The Department of Communication at George Mason University announces the 2023 D.C. Health Communication Conference. The conference will take place at our new location, the Hyatt Regency Dulles. The Hyatt Regency Dulles is within walking distance of the Washington Dulles airport and has easy access to the D.C. Metro train system, as well as multiple restaurants and attractions in the area.

December 1 deadline for abstract submissions.

The preconference, “Creating and Sustaining Academic-Clinical Research Teams,” planned by Anne Nicotera and Tianna Cobb, on Thursday April 27, will focus on discussion of initiation and maintenance of academic-clinical health communication research collaborations. We hope to provide the opportunity to network with clinical researchers seeking collaborations. Further information will be available in January 2023.

The main conference, “Health Communication for a Changing World,” April 28-29, 2023, will feature competitive papers, posters, and panel sessions covering not only issues related to the conference theme but also broadly defined concerns across a breadth of topics relevant to health communication research and practice.

The conference keynote address will be given Friday morning, April 28th, by Dr. Ed Maibach, Professor in the Department of Communication and founding director of our Center for Climate Change Communication. Dr. Maibach is a newly elected member to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine (NAM)
