Conference FAQ’s and Help

We know how stressful the virtual environment can be with each conference doing things a bit differently. We are synchronous for DCHC this year so to help reduce uncertainty we created some guides that may be useful to you if you are an attendee, a paper presenter/panelist, a poster presenter, or a moderator. Hope these help and always feel free to reach out to us at DCHC@gmu.edu.

FOR REGISTRANTS:

Zoom Platform: We will be running the conference through the Zoom teleconferencing platform. To participate, you’ll need a computer with an Internet connection and the Zoom software. If you want to be able to ask questions of presenters, you’ll also need a microphone and, optional, a webcam. You can learn about how to navigate Zoom by using their help center: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us

Interactive program: We will be using the interactive program to provide all paid registrants an easy way to navigate the daily events and join sessions. You can access it now but early this week you will get another email that provides you your unique login credentials. At that time, you will be able to see PDFs of posters and also a “join session” option. When you click you will be prompted to use your login information to gain access.  comm.uky.edu/dchc/program

Logging In: To log in to any presentation, browse the interactive program click on a “Join Session” link and use your credentials (which will be emailed to you separately/ early conference week)

Program Schedule: All sessions are scheduled on Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4), so please be aware of that. There is also a feature that allows you to choose your local time zone and help you more easily navigate the conference.

Cameras, Microphones, and Chat: Due to the volume of attendees, you will be able to use your camera in all session unless bandwidth becomes an issue and we may ask to turn cameras off. Please be sure to click on the “Chat” button when attending those sessions. You can use your microphone during the Q&A to ask a question. Click the “Raise Hand” button, listen for your name to be called, and unmute your microphone before asking your question.

Test Your Connection: Here is a zoom provided way you can test yourself: https://zoom.us/test

We will be offering test and FAQ appointments with staff Monday and Tuesday. Spots are limited and you can sign up here:

Trouble Shooting: We will have help information at the top of the interactive program and you can reach out to us in a number of ways, but always feel free to reach out to DCHC@gmu.edu
